AQUATIC EDUCATION PROGRAM
We
are fortunate to be located next to one of
Toora Primary School offers a comprehensive swimming and water safety program for all students from Prep to year 6. This is an intensive program with all students swimming one week on and one week off. During their swimming week the students swim every day. The program runs part of term 1 and part of term 4.
The program aim to promote water confidence through
the development of all stroke techniques including freestyle, backstroke,
breastroke, butterfly, survival backstroke and sidestroke. The students also
learn about water safety for all aquatic environments such as pools, beaches,
rivers, dams and around the home. This includes safe entries, self-preservation,
using rescue aides, PFDs and safety in boats.
In first term the senior
school (3-6) have a whole school swimming carnival for all students. There are a
variety of races to cater for various ability levels. Students from this
carnival can also qualify to represent the school at District, Division,
Regional and State events.
