From The Hills To The Sea – Being The Best We Can Be
What a whirlwind start to Term 2 we have had!
Portable
We were super-excited (Mrs F especially) to receive the keys to our new portable building at the start of term. The grade 5/6 students have moved into one end of the building, while the other end will be used as a multi-purpose space for the remainder of 2024. We will look to have a second class operating out of the portable next year.
Somers Camp
We had eight Grade 5 and 6 students head off to Somers Camp for a nine day residential camp in Week 1 and 2 of this term. This camp is a wonderful opportunity for personal growth, and whilst the extended time away from home was a challenge for some, it should also be a massive source of pride that they were able to put themselves outside their comfort zones.
Urban Camp
After a short few days at home, our Grade 5/6 students headed off on Urban camp for the second half of this week. This camp is a cluster camp with Welshpool and Tarwin Lower, and provides a wonderful opportunity for students to form friendships with students in other local primary schools prior to secondary college. By all accounts they’re having a fabulous time, with a highlight so far being a night visit to the Melbourne Zoo.
Staffing
This term we welcome Simone Riley onboard as a staff member, who was the successful applicant for the Administration Assistant position we advertised late last term. Simone’s role will include our external communications, including taking on the newsletter and website. Welcome aboard, Simone!
District Aths
After a false start on Monday (late cancellation due to rain), a large group of Grade 3-6 students headed off to Foster Secondary College for the District Athletics on Tuesday. I was there for the day, and could not be prouder of the amazing way our students went about competing – they gave their best, were humble in victory and gracious in defeat. Congratulations to all students who won a ribbon on the day, and to those who will be heading off to Cranbourne later in the year for the Division Aths.
School Cross Country
Our school Cross Country is schedule for next Tuesday, 7th May. Students will head down to Sagasser Park at 1pm and compete on a 1km circuit around the rail trail. We are encouraging students to wear their house colours on the day (Click here to see the house colours). We will need marshalls on the day – please let Han know if you can help out
6th May – Parents club AGM at 2:30pm
7th May – Cross Country at Sagasser Park
10th May – Mothers Day afternoon tea at 2pm
16th May – Andrew McDonald (Real Pigeon Author) Incursion

Fruit break
