From The Hills To The Sea – Being The Best We Can Be
Welcome to Toora Primary School, our school is a community minded school, located in the small South Gippsland farming town of Toora, nestled between the rolling hills of the Strzelecki Ranges and the waters of Corner Inlet. Our school motto is from the hills to the sea, being the best we can be.
At Toora Primary School, our mission is to provide a safe, motivating environment that meets the learning needs, aspirations and interests of all students, supporting them to take ownership of their learning, build healthy relationships and essential learning competencies. We are committed to providing a positive learning environment that caters for each child’s social and emotional wellbeing, which is underpinned by our School Values of School of Be Safe, Be Fair Think, Learn and Care. We promote the development of Growth Mindset (Carol Dweck).
Our class structures are a blend of composite and straight year levels, adjusted as needed to meet the learning needs of the current cohort of students. We prioritise small class sizes (15 – 20 students) to ensure an optimal learning environment for all students.
Our facilities are modern, clean and well-resourced with up-to-date technology that includes 1:1 netbooks and class sets of iPads available to all students. We are very proud of our spacious classrooms, large indoor gymnasium. In addition, we have a dedicated art room, library, a large oval, and an extensive playground area. Toora Swimming Pool is also next door to our school.
Alongside our rich English and Maths programs, we offer a range of specialist subjects including Music, Art, Spanish, Science, Physical Education, MARC Library Van, MAPPEN (Humanities), Respectful Relationships, Swimming and a Kitchen Garden program. Please explore the Curriculum page to gain a more in-depth overview of our Curriculum.
We have a close relationship with Toora Kindergarten and offer an extensive transition program. Our school has formed close relationships with the secondary school in Foster, and we work in a partnership to ensure a smooth transition from primary, to secondary school.
