At Toora Primary School, we’re proud to offer the Hands on Learning program, an innovative and engaging approach that supports students to build confidence, connection, and real-world skills through practical learning.
Hands on Learning is a creative, evidence-based program designed to support the social and emotional development of students. It gives them the opportunity to step out of the traditional classroom one day a week and engage in meaningful, hands-on projects in a small group setting.
Through the program, students:
- Develop confidence, responsibility, and a sense of pride in their work
- Build skills in teamwork, problem solving, and communication
- Work together on real projects that benefit the school and community
- Strengthen their connection to school and learning
Some of our recent projects include creating pot plants from concrete and recycled materials, building our own chair, and even designing our own Hands on Learning t-shirts with help from a local business. We’ve also had special days like Survival Day and celebrated the end of Semester with a Christmas lunch.
Our Hands on Learning Artisan Teacher provides a safe, supportive environment where every student is encouraged to shine. It’s a space where effort is valued, creativity is celebrated, and students feel empowered to contribute and grow.
